Tatewari Ritual

Indulge yourself through the many sensations that water can bring you with the “Tatewari” water ritual; drawing upon the ancient radition of using hot and cold waters to purify and rejuvenate the body and spirit. Our water therapy experience includes a warm jacuzzi, cold spring water soaking pool, steam room, sauna room and a waterfall rinse. Replenish yourself with a selection of fruit, chlorophyll and refreshing fruit beverages.



General Information:

  • All prices are in Mexican pesos mexican tax included.
  • For your convenience a 10% service charge will be automatically added to your bill. This amount is given to your service provider(s). Additional gratuities are appreciated but not mandatory.
  • Please give us a 8 hours notice before canceling or rescheduling your appointment or your account will be charged as a no show with 100% of your treatment cost.
  • Late arrivals will limit the duration of your treatment.
  • All prices are subject to change without further notice.
  • Smoking within the Spa is prohibited.
  • You must be over 16 years of age before you indulge in any Spa treatment. Salon services may be available for younger clients in the presence of a parent or a guardian.
  • We recommend that you do not wear jewelry to the Spa. The management accepts no responsibility for the loss of money or valuables of any kind brought into the spa premises.
  • Gift certificates are available for all services.

Tatewari: (tah-teh-wah-ree)
An indigenous Mexican spiritual deity

Welcome to Tatewari Spa, we are proud to present to you a wonderful Spa concept in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Fine attention to detail, excellence of our trained therapists and beauty professionals combined with the intimate European-Mexican ambiance will leave you in complete harmony. The word Tatewari is also known as Hikuri, he is the shaman of ancient times and the patron of all shamans. He is the one that burns the fields ready for planting corn, who cooks our food, who helps us to hunt deer. He interprets all the deities to the modern shamans, often through visions, sometimes indirectly through Kauyumari (the Sacred Deer Person and culture hero). TATEWARI led the first pilgrimages. Guided by the shaman, the participants, usually ten to fifteen in number, take on the identity of deified ancestors, as they follow Tatewari “to find their life”. TATEWARI stands beside the shaman when he is curing a sick person, and his messengers are feathers. Like the feathers of the shaman’s wand, the “muvieri” they are imbued with life, they have feeling, they move around and are capable of speech and action.
Through this information we can trace a relationship between TATEWARI and healing processes and inner search for peace and tranquility. TATEWARI is a deity related with spiritual growth and extreme peace and relaxation states as a result of the spiritual balance produced by peace, tranquility and meditation.
